"Run, Swim Race to promote Downtown Rehoboth Beach"
Rehoboth Beach Main Street Inc. & Surf Racer Sports team up
to host
Rehoboth Beach’s first Labor Day weekend multi-sport event.
Rehoboth Beach, DE
– This Labor Day, Surf Racer Sports a sports marketing and event
management company, along with Rehoboth Main Street Inc. will host
an aquathlon downtown that will showcase well known competitive
athletes, top tier entertainment, and major national sponsors. The
first ever Rehoboth Main Street Aquathlon is a 1/2 Mile ocean swim
and 5 K run race that will start at 8 am, Sunday of Labor Day
Weekend, September 4th. The event is being sponsored in part by a
leader is sports nutrition,
Amino Vital, with the post race party to showcase regional music
legend Doug Segree.
The award ceremony will also take
place during the post race celebration!
A $500 cash prize will be granted to
the Overall Male Champion and $500 cash prize to the Overall
Female Champion! Gift certificates and top quality
awards will be given to the 2nd and 3rd place overall finishers as
well as the Team Champions. Awards will also be given to the top 3 finishers of each age group (both
Male and Female), and the 2nd and 3rd place ("Male/Male", "Female/Female",
"Coed").
A portion of the proceeds will go to the
Rehoboth Beach Main Street, Inc., a non-profit organization devoted
to maintaining downtown Rehoboth Beach.
For
individuals interested in participating but not interested in
competing in the full Aquathlon, there will be a 5K walk that begins
at the start of the Aquathlon and will follow the same course as the
run
Surf Racer Sports and Rehoboth Beach
Main Street is committed to putting on a fun, first-class,
high-quality race.

Course & Schedule
Course
Swim: The Aquathlon will begin with a 1/2 mile ocean,
open water swim. Athletes will enter the water north or
south of the transition area, swim direction depends on the current,
swimmers will swim WITH the current. Participants will swim out to
and round Buoy #1, then continue
to swim parallel to shore. When participants reach Buoy #2 they will
round the Buoy to the left and head to shore. The athletes will exit the beach via Rehoboth
Avenue's Beach Access Staircase and enter into transition.
Water temperatures are
generally in the low to mid 70's during September. Water conditions
are dependent on weather.
Professional lifeguards will be on duty.
Run or
Walk: The run and walk
segment will begin at the
transition area. Athletes will head north on the boardwalk, exit off
the boardwalk at the Henlopen Hotel and continue into North
Rehoboth by way of Surf Avenue. Participants will turn around
approximately 1.5 miles "out" and return on the same route, finishing on the boardwalk
at Rehoboth Avenue. (In front of the Rehoboth Band
Stand.)
The run/walk is an "out"
and "back" course, very flat terrain (roads are paved).
The course will be clearly marked and a water stop is available.

Details: Packet Pickup & Additional Registration will be at the Rehoboth Band Stand, located at
Rehoboth Avenue and the Boardwalk, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Packet Pickup & Race Day Registration.
Details: Last minute Packet Pickup & Race
Day Registration will be at the Rehoboth Band Stand, Rehoboth Avenue
& the Boardwalk, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
7:45 am
Swimmers walk to start line.
Details: Swimmers will walk 1/2 mile
north or south of Rehoboth Avenue, depending upon the current.
Swimmers will swim with the current.
8:00 am
Race Begins
Details: 1st Wave of the Aquathlon
will begin. (Number of waves depends on the number of registered
participants). Walk will begin also at 8:00am and will follow the
same course as the swim.
10:00 am
Post race activities and award
ceremony
12 Noon
