The first annual YMCA Aquathlon will take
place in beautiful Gordon’s Pond State Park (part of the
Cape Henlopen
State Parks). The ½ Mile Ocean swim
will begin on the Gordon Pond State Park beach. Participants will
enjoy the beautiful backdrop of rolling white sand beaches accented
by the famous WWII lookout towers. Runners and walkers will enjoy
the scenic course that begins on the state park nature trail, and
continues through north shores and finishes at the new beach
pavilion. (The 5 K Walk will begin at the start of the Aquathlon,
9:00 am).
Participants will receive a YMCA Aquathlon
long sleeve t-shirt at packet pickup along with their race bags. The
award ceremony and post race activities will begin directly after
completion of the race.
Awards will be given to the overall top
female and male finisher, top 3 finishers of each age group (both
male and female) and the top 3 teams (male, female and coed
categories).
A portion of the race proceeds to
benefit the
Sussex
Family YMCA, a branch of the Sussex Family YMCA of Delaware.

information:
Swim:
Open water, marked course. Professional lifeguards. Conditions
depend on weather.
Run/Walk:
First 1.5 mile segment will be on packed gravel. Second segment
takes place on flat, paved roads. Course is out and back, both
segments are flat. 5 Kilometers = 3.1 miles.
